Grand Geneva Resort & Spa Hosts Abominable Snow Race at The Mountain Top


Conquer The Midwest’s Premier Winter Obstacle Race on January 27, 2018

LAKE GENEVA, Wis., (January 17, 2018) – Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, the award-winning AAA Four-Diamond resort owned and managed by Marcus Hotels & Resorts, is excited to welcome back the Abominable Snow Race (ASR) on Saturday, January 27. The Midwest’s premier winter obstacle race challenges participants to five miles of snowy terrain and more than 20 winter-themed obstacles.

Held at The Mountain Top, the ski resort at Grand Geneva, ASR offers the perfect blend of fitness, family and fun. Ideal for varying ages and skills, there are three race categories: Elite Heat (elite racers 17 & older), Hero Heat (military, police & firefighters), and Open Heats (athletes 12 & older). All race participants will receive an exclusive ASR t-shirt, ASR finisher’s medal, 2018 Abominable beanie, and those 21 years of age or older will also receive a free local craft brew at the finish from sponsor Geneva Lake Brewing Co. Kids ages 4 to 11 can conquer the Lil Yeti course, which is a half mile long and features eight plus obstacles on the bunny slopes.

Before and after the event, participants are encouraged to check out the 2018 Base Camp, located at the bottom of The Mountain Top, along with the nearby Yeti’s Lodge. While there, guests are invited to listen to live music, play games, enjoy food and drinks by the fire pit, and watch fellow racers conquer the course.

ASR is proud to donate a portion of the 2018 event proceeds to the Oscar Mike Foundation, which aims to help get injured veterans “On-The-Move.” Each year, ASR honors service men and women with the presentation of the flag by the U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard, special guest speakers from the Oscar Mike Foundation and the singing of the national anthem.
